Registration
Do I have to register? You must register to use ROCKBANDLOUNGE.COM Chat. Go to
Chat Registration and
under Desired Member Name enter your ROCKBANDLOUNGE.COM Forum Username. If your
ROCKBANDLOUNGE.COM Forum Username has spaces in it, you will have to register a
version of it without spaces for Chat.
I'm already
a member of the ROCKBANDLOUNGE.COM Forum, do I still have to register for Chat?
Yes.
Do I have to use the same username for both the ROCKBANDLOUNGE.COM Forum and Chat?
Generally yes. If your Forum Username has spaces you will have to register a
version for Chat without spaces.
Do I have to sign up for the Forum in order to use Chat? In order to
guarantee the continued use of a specific Username in Chat, you must register
for the Forum using the same name.
Logging In
How do I
login? First login to the
ROCKBANDLOUNGE.COM Forum and click on the Chat link at the top
of the page and enter your password in the pop-up window. If you are not logged into
the Forum the Chat link will not appear.
What does
Access Denied mean?
First, make sure you are registered for ROCKBANDLOUNGE.COM Chat. If you aren't, click
on
Register Name | Update Password and follow the directions above to register
for Chat. If you are already registered, then click on the Login
link and enter your Username and Password. If you still get an Access Denied
message contact the Chat Admin.
It's not
working - what should I do? Make sure you have the latest version of Java,
available at Java.com. Also, make sure you
have the current version of your browser - ROCKBANDLOUNGE.COM Chat has been tested
with Internet Explorer 6 and Firefox.
I keep
getting kicked off - what should I do? First, if you have a popup blocker it
may be interfering with the Chat Window - turn it off for ROCKBANDLOUNGE.COM. If you
continue to have problems, please go to Java.com
and download the latest version of Java.
Chatting
How do I
send a message? Chat messages posted by all members are displayed in the
main chat window. To add to the conversation, type a message into the text input
box located below the main chat window, and click on the Send button (or hit the
Enter key on your keyboard).
How do I
send a private message?
To send a private message, right-click on the member's Username on the User
List, and select Private Chat. A new window will display and you can chat with
that member privately, one-to-one.
How do I
ignore another member? You can ignore any member in a room so that their
chat text does not display in your own chat window. You can also block their
private chat requests. To ignore a member, right-click on their Username on the
User List, and select Ignore. Any ignored member will appear to be "grayed out"
in the User List. To stop ignoring another member, right-click on their Username
in User List, and select Unignore. You may ignore as many people as you wish.
How do I
ignore private messages? You may choose to ignore all private message
requests by clicking on the Options menu or, when a private chat request is
initiated, you may click on the Ignore checkbox under the Action menu to block
other private message requests from that user.
How do I
format my messages? Use the buttons at the bottom of the chat window to
format your text. You can choose to bold, italicize, or color your message text.
Can I use
smilies and sounds? Smilies and sounds are allowed in chat - but please use
them sparingly. Overuse of smilies and sounds can cause your fellow members to
get grumpy, and rightfully so!
Can I resize
the Chat window? Click on the button with the four arrows at the bottom of
the Chat window to open the Chat Room in a separate window. This separate window
can be resized and moved about on your screen. Drag a corner or edge to resize
it.
Can I open a
new room within ROCKBANDLOUNGE.COM Chat? At this time, only Moderators are allowed
to open new rooms.
What are the
rules? The ROCKBANDLOUNGE.COM Forum Guidelines apply in Chat as well - in other
words, no personal attacks, no links to illegal downloads, no explicit spoilers
before the show airs on the East Coast, and all the rest. If you can't post it
on the Forum, please don't bring it to Chat either.
