Paul Mirkovich Musical Director/Keyboardist/Background Vocalist http://www.paulmirkovich.com

"It was like a jigsaw puzzle--you need one key piece to fall into place--and then it starts to make sense," says senior music producer Clyde Lieberman. Paul Mirkovich was that piece. The audition process was arduous, but when Paul and the band he had put together played Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody," everyone was "blown away" by Paul's arrangement and inspired handling of such a famous and famously difficult song. "They nailed the whole thing, everyone's jaw just dropped," said Lieberman. We found Rafael and Sasha right there in Paul's band as well--and then we brought in Jim and Nate--and the puzzle was complete! -- rockstar.msn.com/houseband
Paul Mirkovich has been a musical director, keyboardist, singer, programmer, arranger, composer, and song writer for over 20 years.
He has toured the world extensively with major established artists and has played live for millions. His credits as musical director / keyboardist / vocalist include Cher, Janet Jackson, INXS, RockStar INXS, Anastasia, Whitesnake, and many others.

Keyboardist/Composer/Musical Director Paul Mirkovich was tabbed to rework the show's theme song (INXS' "New Sensation") as well as MD the show's live band that will back the competing singers. -- tascam.com

| Last year showed me what the HB was capable of, and I'm one of the group that thinks RS:INXS was much better than RS:SN. There are 2 reasons I'm continuing to watch this season - Storm Large and the HB. There just aren't words to describe how incredible they are. Every night, every song, not enough praise this year for the job they do. Need another guitarist? |

This is AWESOME! The HB deserves all the praise they get and more. I only wish we got to see/hear more of them.
edited to say how great I think Paul is! I've noticed that there are fewer pix of him on different sites than the other members of the HB..is he camera shy or maybe reserved? Just wondering. |

If the HB ever does its own album and tour, I'm buying it and going to the shows. They are so tight, heavy, talented... and they've really gotten a chance to show their personalities to us through the reality show as well as they performances. I feel like I know these guys. They should really hook up with one of the 30 singers.
I always was amused by this classic pic of Paul:

On Sunday I shot a photo essay backstage, and here are some shots of Paul from it...

Paul was feigning sleep here - but I'm sure it came easy for him. He said he was up until 5 AM working, so this photo while a fake is still pretty acurate!

Paul is so hot! Week after week after week! I'll never forget the House Band's performance of 'Rebel Yell' with Paul on vocals. He's a great singer.
I met him earlier this year when INXS was at Pala casino. He was so nice and friendly. He seems like just a regular guy.......who happens to be mega-talented. |

bwah! I just saw his post in: >::>::Rock Star: Supernova - Elimination Show - 8/23/06 -- post 1<::<::

Hi all, I told Cheryl I would post eventually and there is something in this topic that I wanted to reply to. Working with Ryan on the show is really not all that much more difficult or easier than anyone else. We all have our quirks,me includued, and artistic folks have more of them more openly displayed. It is true that Ryan's nickname from the HB has become Micro. That is not really a slam as he is aware of the name and laughs at it too. He is just very particular about how he wants his music performed and how he wants to do the covers. I have never felt disrespected by Ryan. On the contrary, he has expressed the utmost respect and confidence in what we do. However, part of him being so particular at times causes him to be concerned about things that probably don't matter all that much in the grand scheme of things,ie. a drum fill or gtr tone. It doesn't piss us off we just smile and do as he asks. I have a great deal of respect for Ryan's talent. He is a fine singer and writer. And he actually is a pretty nice guy when he is relaxed. These people are all under a tremendous amount of pressure and judgement, and lights and cameras. I am glad I am not in their position. Well that is all for now. Thanks for all the support for the show. Speaking for the rest of the guys ,we love what we do and we are all very thankful for the positivity that is thrown our way.

Hi again all, I had to check back to see if I caused any reaction. I just did the cuts for this weeks songs and while they upload I have time for a post. Let's see, I suppose it is possible I am not the real Paul. I suppose if i were some sort of imposter I would have researched all of the songs played since show 101b and would be able to tell you that Ryan's BOMC had originally four gtr parts in the chorus. Two Rhythm parts,an eigth note ostinatto part starting on g natural, and a melodic line that I played on the keyboard usig two VSTi synths from my Muse Receptor.Ultra Analog and Atmosphere. I would also be able to tell you that in order to play BabaOreilly I had to split the keyboard and have the identical patch,Soft Drawbar Organ on both sides in two instances of Atmosphere with eith note delays at 120 bpm on both. I would have further researched that unlike previous versions of Knockin on Heaven's door ,Jordis' version had a french horn line based on a Lydian motif in the second verse. If indeed I was not Paul I could probably point out the right and wrong things about every arrangement since the first Mayan show ,and probably most of it from memory. It would be exhausting to be an imposter. I will have to just settle on being me. You guys are fun. This is the first real day off i have had in weeks which means basically I have worked about 6 hours instead of 16. Any questions? I don't know when I will be around again to answer them but this was fun anyway. Cheers,Paul

Okay, this is my last post for the evening as I have to do a choral arrangement this evening for Pink's show before bedtime. Yes,we all dug playing with Magni,Great song, great guy. And yes of course he was playing gtr. We all would definitely want to be back for season three, and four if there were one. We will be there partying on New Years Eve if I can squeeze a couple of tickets out of the SN boys. And Jd's version of that song would have sucked beyond belie and we never would have gotten another queen song ever again. Okay that's it. I can't be sucked in to this pit of blog addiction. Thanks again,Cheers,Paul

I was going to post this in the elimination thread but wanted to stay on topic there, so I put it here and hope you see it!
If I'd known you were coming back so soon Paul, I would have asked if you guys all learned to love Zayra? Some of my favorite reality moments are your facial expressions when working with her. Loved her and love you - that was fun to see. |

Pfft Pfft!! Anyone can do that! metronome, embouchure, tessitura, synthesizer, yodel..... See? Big words...all from www.google.com. Which, by the way, is the same place you find Storm nekkid!
LOL Seriously though! I read your blog a week or so ago (sorry I've been busy with Dilana hype since) and I know you are such a very, very busy person!! I felt bad after reading how busy you are and then hearing Dana skipped practice. I hope she let you know and didn't leave you waiting. Anyway, thanks for taking time to write the fans. OB:House has a huge following here and many of us would love to see you all looking for a lead on the next show!! Woot Woot!

Hi Paul (ok, blushing again..lol) Just wanted to let you know that when my hubby heard there would be another rock star show this year, he said "I sure hope they have the same house band...they are awesome..." and yes, you are all Masters of Hotness...totally platonic hotness in my case, but hotness none the less. |

Hey Paul - you guys ROCK!!
I've always said this show would not be nearly as good without THE HOUSE BAND!!!
I love it when you play for us before the taping starts.
Requests?
What?
You guys take requests?
Okay then, how about something from the Rolling Stones on Sunday. Anything. You choose.
okay, so maybe they don't take requests. But maybe they do. Shut up. |

Paul Just want to say how much I appreciate your passion and dedication to the craft. Your (and all HB artists) love comes through loud and clear on every performance. Talk about professionalism !!!
I, too, am hoping for a tour of OB:H. If you're seriously contemplating that move, how 'bout using that for the name of your band (no licensing issues, and no nasty anagram there)
Thanks again *big hugs*
WE LOVE OB:H |
